Parley Place Care home resident Bob Eastham used to love visiting The Donkey Sanctuary on a Sunday with his friend, so staff decided to bring some donkeys into the home to surprise him and create a special moment.

Bob has lived at Parley Place since December and is beloved by staff and residents alike. Staff at the home were delighted to make the day memorable, as they knew how much it meant to him, and they all wanted to be there to see the smile on Bob’s face when his surprise was revealed.

Staff began talking with Fairview Therapy Farm to arrange the visit shortly after learning of Bob’s old Sunday tradition. The farm picked up miniature donkeys Veronique and Alfonso from their summer grazing field and brought them over to the home for a visit.

Bob said: “I was on the verge of tears. It is such an amazing feeling to know that such a loving group of people care so much and wanted to do this special thing for me.”

Tracey Aldin, the general manager at the home, said: “We believe that every moment is worth cherishing.  We want everyone we care for to know how important they are to us here at Parley Place.  It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team here in making special moments for our residents.  It was wonderful to see how happy Bob was – and the staff loved being a part of this as well.”
